ROBERT HUIZENGA, M.D., considered one of the leading weight-loss experts in the country, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at UCLA, and the former L.A. Raider doctor and NFL Physician Society President who chronicled his experiences in You’re OK, It’s Just a Bruise – A Doctor’s Sideline Secrets about Pro-Football’s Most Outrageous Team. This book sparked the national debate on anabolic steroids and other ergogenic aids and was the basis for Oliver Stone’s Any Given Sunday. Most recently, Huizenga authored Where Did All the Fat Go? The WOW Prescription to Reach Your Ideal Weight and Stay There, an innovative’ cutting edge approach to obesity based on observations of overweight professional athletes together with four years of in depth research on over 200 obese couch-potato applicants to NBC's Biggest Loser TV show. The WOW! Rx combines cutting edge exercise, nutrition, psychology and group dynamics with old-fashioned hard work. Rob was valedictorian and all-county football, wrestling and track at Penfield High; he was honors math and biology and NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Michigan, immunology major and all-star Rugby player while at Harvard Medical School. He was chosen Chief Medical Resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center while also serving as a national medical correspondent for the FOX-TV show Break Away and later for ABC’s The Home Show. Rob has repeatedly been interviewed as a health expert on CBS, NBC and ABC Evening News, Nightline and Larry King as well in the New York Times, LA Times and other national print media. SANDY KRUM, ATC/L, presently serves as Head Athletic Trainer for NBC's THE BIGGEST LOSER. He brings with him twenty years of experience as an athletic trainer in Major League Baseball (Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates , and Chicago Cubs). Krum, an honors graduate of Ohio University's prestigious Sports Medicine Program, has traveled the world with Major League Baseball. During this period, he was able to share his knowledge with athletes from Australia to Japan, Mexico to the Dominican Republic Krum was a recipient of the Presidential (Ronald Reagan) Certificate of Merit for saving the life of a young man in Cedar Rapids , Iowa while performing exhaustive CPR. Krum also was honored to be named Key Note speaker during the 1999 NATIONAL ATHLETIC TRAINERS ASSOCIATION annual convention. Aside from his current duties on the Biggest Loser, Krum has served in the same capacity for American Gladiators, The N's Student Body, and The Amazing Race.
Meg Werner-Moreta MS, RD, CDE Registered Dietician and Certified Diabetes Educator Meg has been working in the field of nutrition since 1990. She trained at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, and has been practicing for over ten years in the Beverly Hills community. She started at the Cedars-Sinai Diabetes Outpatient Treatment and Education Center before moving to the USC Westside Center for Diabetes. Working in academic medical centers has allowed Meg to do research and work along with some of the nation’s leading health care providers. She recently contributed to writing the highly successful book, “Conquering Diabetes,” and is currently working with several premier chefs on a book detailing a gourmet eating plan for patients who want to lose weight but enjoy great food at the same time. She continues to practice in an academic environment at the Robertson Diagnostic Center, and is proud to be an integral part of the Robertson Weight Loss team.
ALEXA ALTMAN, PH.D Psychologist Alexa trained at Univerisity of Wisconsin-Madison and at California School of Professional Psychology. She has her own private practice since 2005 in Los Angeles specializing in weight loss therapy. Working in weight loss therapy has given her an opportunity to work for " The Biggest Loser" reality TV since 2006 as a psychological consultant. She conducts group therapy sessions to address coping with emotional eating. She has also worked with Dr. Robert Huizenga since 2006 conducting group therapy sessions addressing emotional eating, stress managment, self-esteem, and body image for the Wow Rx.
